Kalevipoeg – Character Redesign from Estonian mythology

Kalevipoeg is a 19th-century epic poem that tells the tragic story of a giant hero whose strength and fate reflect Estonia’s cultural identity.

This project is a modern redesign of Kalevipoeg, the heroic figure from the Estonian national epic. I began with a digital concept painting in Procreate to establish the character’s mood and form. The 3D model was modeled in Blender and textured in Substance Painter with a mix of stylized and realistic details. The goal was to merge mythological storytelling with a full character production pipeline – from 2D concept to final, textured and rigged model.
